HealthPedia: Journal of Public Health and Community Wellness is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research that advances public health systems, health equity, and community-based wellness interventions. Positioned at the confluence of social medicine, epidemiology, and health policy, the journal serves as a critical scholarly forum for public health practitioners, epidemiologists, medical sociologists, and healthcare policymakers worldwide. HealthPedia prioritizes macro-level systemic evaluations, rigorous empirical field studies, and innovative preventive health paradigms that address complex, multi-scalar health disparities. By bridging global epidemiological metrics with localized community interventions, the journal fosters a holistic understanding of health determinants, environmental health challenges, and sustainable wellness models.
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, critical reviews, and conceptual papers that offer significant contributions to the following thematic areas:
Epidemiology & Biostatistics: Surveillance of infectious and chronic diseases, spatial epidemiology, predictive health modeling, and population health data analytics.
Health Policy, Economics & Management: Healthcare delivery systems, universal health coverage, public health resource allocation, health insurance evaluation, and organizational behavior in health institutions.
Community Health & Preventive Medicine: Health promotion strategies, participatory community action research, maternal and child health frameworks, geriatric health, and lifestyle medicine interventions.
Environmental & Occupational Health: Impact of climate change on health, urban toxicology, sanitation and hygiene systems, workplace ergonomics, and industrial safety.
Behavioral Health & Social Determinants: Cultural and socioeconomic health disparities, mental health promotion, health literacy metrics, and the mitigation of addictive or risky health behaviors.
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and timely dissemination of cutting-edge research, HealthPedia is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues targeting global health emergencies, pandemic preparedness, or specific community wellness milestones may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.
HealthPedia enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity, clinical ethics, and validity.
Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor to assess thematic alignment, formatting compliance, and strict ethical clearances (including Institutional Review Board/IRB approvals for human research). Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established experts in public health and community wellness frameworks.
Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on the intellectual merit, empirical rigor, and population health relevance of the work.
Mission Statement: "The mission of HealthPedia is to deconstruct global health challenges and optimize preventive healthcare delivery pathways within an increasingly interconnected world. Grounded in the philosophy that health is a fundamental human right and community wellness is the ultimate measure of sustainable development, the journal aims to democratize public health knowledge by providing an unrestricted, high-impact platform for global scholarly dialogue. Through the promotion of diverse methodological approaches—ranging from randomized population trials to qualitative health ethnographies—HealthPedia seeks to empower health practitioners, inspire community developers, and shape evidence-based health policies worldwide."
